Don't hold your breath for 'Underwater'

2020 kicks off with a pointless sci-fi horror that belly flops so hard it’s painful to watch. Underwater stars Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr., Jessica Henkwick, and T.J. Miller, in a survival race on the ocean floor. Part of a 300-plus mining crew, the hapless team has to escape to the surface as the massive underwater drill implodes. The monster that causes it to fail is as boring as the character development is lacking. Underwater feels like a cheap reimagining of James Cameron’s The Abyss.

Save yourself the trouble and watch that classic instead.
